Tips on buying clothes for toddlers

July 13th, 2010

Just as when you shop for clothes for yourself, you need to know the size of clothes your toddler wears now. Toddlers grow fast, so the clothes you bought two months ago may already be tight on your little one. Take a look at the clothes you have now and how they fit your child. If they seem to be getting tight, buy a size or two bigger this time.

Clothes for toddlers often come with features that allow them to grow without growing out of their clothes. For instance, it is smart to buy toddler clothes that use Velcro closures. Velcro gives as toddlers grow. The same goes for elastic waistbands that can expand with your child.

You can also buy baby and toddler clothing that can be a size too big. This is a common practice, especially for people who do not want to buy more clothes in a short period of time. Just be sure the clothes fit your toddler well enough to allow them to be active without hindering their movements. You don’t want the clothes to be so big that the arms cover your toddler’s hands or the pant cuffs drag on the floor. One size up should be sufficient to provide your child with room to grow.

The other comfort factor for your toddler is the material used to make the clothes. Cotton remains the most versatile material, one that breathes during hot weather, and that can keep toddlers warm in cooler weather. Cotton can also be washed many times. There are also synthetic materials that are used in toddler’s clothing. If you want to purchase toddler clothes made of synthetic materials, just make sure the label states that the clothes are fire retardant.

Finally, pick clothes for your toddler that speak to your sense of style. Some people prefer off-the-rack toddler clothes sold in department stores, which can certainly be inexpensive. The other option is unique and one-of-a-kind toddler clothing found in boutiques. If you want your toddler to wear something different than other children, this is the route for you.

Tips: Make sure the toddler clothes you want to buy can take all that toddlers dish out. Toddlers are very active and are known to become messy as they play and eat. So, read the label on toddler clothing to make sure you can wash it often without fear of it quickly falling apart or shrinking.

When you choose clothes for baby , you must take these into consideration

July 6th, 2010

Choose baby clothes with an ease of changing where you can change it anytime; Make sure that the clothes have an easy access for diaper changes as well; Try to get clothing with a stretchy neckline or those having a snap to widen the opening, as it will facilitate the changing of clothes. Clothing with snap crotches is great for diaper changes.

In addition to ease of changing, it is also important to consider the location of decorative items like snaps, buttons etc. verses baby’s comfort. You should give a thought to how the baby will be laying on these decorative items of clothing and how these accessories may be annoying.Prepare for a set of long johns for winter so that you can keep your baby warm.

If you want to save money, and also knowing that your baby will grow rapidly, it’s okay if you consider to buy used baby clothes as long as it still good and clean. You can also sell your baby clothes at the thrift stores or directly to other parents who are looking for baby clothing after you realize that your baby has grown up bigger.

Buying suitable clothes for Baby in different occasions, such as daywear, nightwear, and special

June 28th, 2010

Parents will be faced with many choices when choosing and buying baby clothes, striking a balance between practical and cute, fashionable and comfortable, need and impulse, and night and day. All of these difficulties in choosing baby clothes are made worse by the fact that babies grow so quickly. In fact, You do not necessarily buy to fit now, but fit for the next few months if at all possible.

Daywear

The Daywear for your baby should be comfortable, easy to access for changing diapers, and simple. These are the clothing that your baby will spend most of her time in, so they are bound to get dirty. When the baby dribbles, brings up her milk, crawls around on the floor, these clothes are going to bear the brunt of the soiling. So you will probably not want your baby to wear her best outfits, such as special gifts.

The best clothes for day to day needs are probably simple body suits. You will probably need between five and ten of these one piece baby suits to keep on top of daily requirements.

Nightwear

Baby clothing for sleeping should meet some of the same needs as the daywear, at least in terms of comfort, and accessibility for changing. In fact, if you live in a warm climate, you may be able to get away with using similar clothes night and day.

However, if you live in a colder region, then a warmer version of the day wear would be needed, or heavier knit pyjamas or similar sleepwear. It is all common sense really, and it will not be long before your baby tells you in no uncertain terms what she is comfortable in, and cannot abide.

Special Occasions

For outdoor baby wear, the parents have a chance to dress baby up to look smart and nice. This is where some of those baby shower gifts may come into their own, or the baby clothes that have taken your eye at the local department store. However, these items should still be checked for their practicality, making sure that straps, snaps, bows and so on do not interfere with diaper changing, or cause any discomfort to the baby.

Handmade dresses for your baby

June 21st, 2010

Measure your baby’s head. This is how wide the neck opening needs to be. Measure your baby from shoulder to shoulder; measure around the stomach, hips and thighs. These are the width measurements. Measure from shoulder to wrist, from shoulder to stomach, from shoulder to hip and from shoulder to ankle. Measure from shoulder to underarm. Measure from crotch to ankle and from stomach to ankle. These are the length measurements.

On a piece of dressmaker’s paper, use a ruler to draw a rectangle as wide as your baby’s widest measurement, plus 2 inches for ease, and as long as you want the dress to go, plus 2 inches for the hem. Mark the length of baby’s armhole plus 1 inch.

Fold the pattern in half. Take half the measurement for baby’s head and mark it on either side of the fold line. For the front of the pattern, use the French curve to draw a rounded neckline. Decide if your dress will be drop sleeve or rounded sleeve. If it is drop sleeve, leave it alone. If it is a fitted round sleeve, take half the shoulder to shoulder measurement and, with the pattern folded in half, mark where the armholes should be on the shoulder, using the French curve to draw the underarm shape.

With your pencil and ruler, draw a triangle from the center of the neck hole, cross the bottom underarm mark and continue the length of the garment. This gives the dress an A-line shape. Your pattern has no waistline, so it is adaptable as your baby grows taller. It can easily go from dress to blouse.

Fold the dressmaker paper in half. Pin on the fold of the material and cut out the front of the dress. With the pattern still folded in half, pin to a double thickness of fabric and cut out the two back pieces of the dress. Don’t worry about facing, because the neck and armhole will be finished with seam binding.

Use a 5/8-inch seam up the back to within 4 inches of the neck opening. Use a 5/8-inch seam to close the shoulders. Use a 5/8-inch seam from underarm to hem. Stitch seam binding from one shoulder seam, around the neck, down the neck opening and up to the other shoulder seam. Turn the raw edge and hand stitch shut. Stitch seam binding around each armhole, hand stitching the raw edges shut. Turn the raw edge at the bottom of the dress and hand stitch a 2-inch hem. Attach a tie from the two lengths of grosgrain ribbon at the back of the dress.

the development of clothing

June 17th, 2010

Assessing a decade of fashion so close in time is complex. In terms of costume history it’s only after a trend has been around for several years can we acknowledge that it’s more than a passing fad and deserves recognition in the archives of history. We each see what we ourselves wore as what was worn and typical of the era. The mood of society in the final decade of the last millennium was more defining than what was actually worn.

So much more was on offer globally, and many people lost interest in fashion as necessary and important to their lives when business rules for dressing relaxed. Working from home became common. By the edge of the 21st century dressing down in every aspect of life became an acceptable norm. Ordinary retail clothing sales, textile manufacturing industries and stores all declined from a less active more casual marketplace.

The range of fashion goods available was huge in the 1990s, but no one knows the real answer why retail sales were often sluggish. The main thrust of fashion was the striving to achieve individuality. Fashion proliferated as fast as it could be relayed by the media and Internet and only by styling oneself rather than slavishly following a particular designer’s fashion look, could individuality be achieved. Rapid dissemination of information and a more relaxed attitude to clothes has led to a certain inevitable uniformity in cities thousands of miles apart.

Comfort dressing with stretch, accounts for many sales today.

return clothing

June 17th, 2010

This morning I went to the shop to change the coat I bought yesterday. When I told the salesgirl what I came for, she didn’t admit the coat was bought in the shop. When I showed her the receipt, she said I made the coat dirty and refused to change it for me.

I reasoned with her, pointing to the notice on the wall, which read “All the goods bought here can be changed if there’s something wrong.”

She had nothing to say but still refused my request. Just then the manager came. After I told him the whole matter, he criticized the salesgirl and had the coat changed for me.

At last,I left the shop with satisfaction.
